Install Apps On Firestick Instructions

Best Setup:
Fibre Broadband (Recommended)
Router and Device in SAME Room (Recommended), If not get a wifi extender
New Device (Recommended) Less than 2 yrs old
Devices to have as little apps as possible (NO Gaming apps etc)
Latest Apps (Skyglass 2024 Recommended)

NOTE: All instructions to Install, Uninstall, Update, Troubleshoot etc are available here, Get used to this as this will NOT be the last time you will be here.

To Setup
Plug in Device to HDMI on TV and follow onscreen instructions to pair Remote, Select Language.
Connect device to your Wifi and let it do whatever updates it wants to
Login using your Amazon Account

Continue Setup
Just select Ok on amazon login and continue as u go BUT select No thanks to add Apps.
Adding Apps SLOWS the Device and causes Buffering, Freezing etc, Only add the bare minimum and the device should ALWAYS have at LEAST 2gb of available Storage
You should now be at the amazon Home screen

Install the 1st App (Downloader App)
Press and hold the microphone button and say Downloader
Select Downloader App on Screen and Select Download on next Screen, It will say Queued, Then Installing and it will say Open When Done (DO NOT Open Downloader YET)

To Unlock Device DO NOT SKIP if 1st time
Press and hold Microphone Button and say Settings
Select Applications and select AppStore and turn OFF Automatic Updates and Turn OFF In-App Purchases (Recommended)
Press and hold Microphone Button and say Settings
Select My Fire TV, Select Developer Options, Select Install Unknown Apps and turn all on OR just Downloader if it lists choices

If Developer Options is not there do the following
Press and Hold Microphone Button and say Settings
Select My Fire TV
Select About
Hit the button on the remote seven times on the first item to reveal the now-hidden Developer Options menu, and follow the step above to unlock Apps and allow downloader to Install Apps

Continue Setup
Install 2nd App
Press and hold the microphone button and say Downloader
Select Downloader App
IMPORTANT Allow anything it asks
In the URL Box Put CODE OR URL for your selected app in box and select Go (Codes & Urls BELOW)
When the app Downloads select Install at Bottom Right of Screen
When Installed Select Open Bottom Right of Screen
Keep Selecting Arrow at Bottom of screen
Select Login

Connect VPN in App
Select VPN
Tick Automatic & Autoconnect
Select Connect
IMPORTANT Select OK or AGREE to ANYTHING ASKED
When Connected appears at bottom of screen Select the Back Button on the remote and it will show you the Login Screen again
If Skyglass app closes Just Open it again

To Login
Put in your Given Username and Password (NOT your Amazon Login)
Select Login

NO CONNECTION ERROR
If you get a NO CONNECTION ERROR in Downloader using the code try the following
Try the Downloader Url way above and if still the same THEN
Try the Downloader Url way WITHOUT the https:// in the box and if still the same THEN
Uninstall the Downloader app and reboot your wifi router, any extenders and the device and then power all on again and install the Downloader app again

When your choosen App Downloads just install and Open It
Choosen App is Ready to Login

Adding External Player to Skyglass App

VPN Recommended as Internet providers Block or Slow connections to servers as by LAW they supposed to.

Go to the device APPStore
Search for The Player you want (VLC Player recommended)
Download and Install it
Open SkyGlass App
Select Settings
Select External Player
Select Add External Player
Add the player You downloaded earlier
Go back to Skyglass Settings and select Player Selection.
Set Movies, Series & Catchup to the Player you downloaded

Some Trouble Shooting

VPN Recommended as Internet providers Block or Slow connections to servers as by LAW they supposed to.

Green Screen on Channels?
Answer: Mostly happens on the very old Red App, Do the WEEKLY Maintenance and if no better follow instructions and install a newer app.

ALL Channels Blank?
Again Start by doing WEEKLY Maintenance and if no better make sure you are using the LATEST app and use the FREE VPN in the App as Internet providers DO block as they are supposed to by law, If still no better Make sure that Device and Router is in the SAME room as new 5g routers DO NOT send signal well through Walls, Floors or ceilings, USE Wifi extenders to get more stable internet into rooms where the device is.
If you are already using the FREE VPN in App and no better select VPN and disconnect and reconnect and see

ALL Channels Buffering?
Do the same as explained in "All Channels Blank" above

Netflix etc work so its not my Internet?
Netflix etc working does not mean that your internet is NOT to blame, Internet Providers Block, Its the Law so again do the same as explained in "All Channels Blank" above, using VPN VERY Important here

My Device is over 2yrs old?
Simple, Get a NEW Device, Tech moves on, we all loved the old nokia phones but they would never do what the one you have now does, Its the same with all devices, Every 2 years buy a new one, They 50euro or less and worth the money.

Whats the Best Setup?
My Setup is as follows & with NO Issues:
Fibre Internet with wifi extenders in each room there is a device
Google Chromecast with Google TV 2020 (the white one)
Latest Skyglass app WITH VPN Connected
External Player for Catchup, for Movies & for Series on the app set to Nova Player
I do WEEKLY Maintenance EVERY week at the very least.

My device is slow?
Could be memory is full so uninstall apps to free up space

WEEKLY Maintenance & BEST PRACTICE (MOST IMPORTANT) Fixes 99% of issues

FOLLOW THIS EXACTLY, if you dont, its pointless

1st PLUG OUT OR Switch OFF The WIFI Router
2nd PLUG OUT Any WIFI Extenders you have
3rd PLUG OUT The Device from the Power
THEN DO THE FOLLOWING
1st Plug In the Router to the power and WAIT for internet to FULLY return working
2nd Plug In any wifi extenders starting at the closest to the wifi router and WAIT for the Internet to FULLY return on EACH extender, if any
3rd Plug in the Device and wait for it to BOOT up.

The ABOVE is the FIRST THING you SHOULD do BEFORE you seek ANY help

BEST PRACTICE - PLUG OUT or POWER DOWN the Device EVERY NIGHT
BEST PRACTICE - Device in the SAME room as the router, Use wifi extenders if not.
BEST PRACTICE - Replace Device if older than 2yrs

Uninstall Apps on a Firestick


Press House button on Remote
Press and hold Microphone button and say Settings
Select Applications
Select Manage installed applications
Scroll down apps list and select the app you are uninstalling
Select Uninstall and agree to anything it asks

Press House button on Remote
Press and hold Microphone button and say Settings
Select Applications
Select Manage installed applications
Scroll down apps list and select the app you want
Select Clear Data
Select Clear Data Again
App is now the same as when you 1st installed it

Check Internet Connection Status on Firestick

VERY Important as new routers send 5g connections
Press House button on Remote
Press and hold Microphone button and say Settings
Select Network
Select the Wifi Network you connected to
Follow instructions on right of screen to select View Status
Status MUST BE Very Good or Excellent, Anything LESS (including Good) causes Buffering, Freezing, No Picture etc
Use Wifi Extenders to get the status to Very Good or Excellent (GOOD is NOT Good enough)
